Ate, gathered our belongings and called a taxi to go to the train station. Our train left at 10:54 and we arrived in Venice at 1:00. Our hotel is just across the canal from the train station so we walked. If it was the Amazing Race, we were Team 2 getting to our hotel in Florence from the Train Station (I won't blame it on our lady driver 😉) but in Venice we were team 1. Although I feel as though I've been in the same clothes for a week - not really but not much variety- it has been much easier getting around with the small bag. I know some of the others paid to have their bags taken to the hotel that was only .2 miles from the train station! We dropped off our bags and by 1:30 we were wandering through the streets of Venice. It reminds me of Toledo and Florence where I always feel as if I'm lost but it is better than Rome and Florence because you don't feel like you are going to be run over by their drivers! We basically were just exploring since we get a 4 hour tour tomorrow which will take us to Murano and then hit the Venetian high points. We did get to the Rialto and San Marcos Square. We saw the Bell Tower and the many beautiful buildings including the Cathedral of San Marcos. You truly don't know where to look because there is so much beauty in the architecture. We did stop at 4:00 for something to eat. We didn't get in our average of 9 miles a day today but we were out from about 1:30 - 6:30 and got in around 7 miles. Want to be ready for our last big day tomorrow so we'll probably make it an early night.
