It’s Ron’s birthday 🎂. Made our way to our hotel Montecarlo. It’s a small older hotel with a friendly helpful staff but it is clean and quaint. We got settled and went out exploring. First just behind the hotel is the British Embassy which has its guards protecting it. We actually have seen quite a few police at churches and sites of interest and you have to put your bags through the X-ray etc. it’s like going through TSA everywhere you go. Then we went to a Piazza Porto Pio. We walked along the streets and saw beautiful buildings, churches and statues everywhere. We stopped for some tea and treats while we were out. We passed through the Piazza della Repubblica and stopped at the beautiful Basilica St. Maria Delgi Angeli e dei Martiri and later to Santa Maria Maggiore. Came back to the hotel for a 6:00 orientation meeting and then went to a restaurant 3 blocks away for a quick bite to eat. I had seafood linguine and Ron had Veal Saltimbocca and spaghetti. At 9:00 it was bed time as we were running on no sleep and had an early wake up tomorrow. Buona Sera.
