Trip to France - Day 3 - Monday, Dec. 9, 2019 - Paris

Up for breakfast and an 8:30 departure.  We did a driving tour of Paris: Concord Square, Champs-Elysees, the National Assembly and Le Louvre. We were not sure if the Louvre would be open due to the strike but we lucked out. It was raining so hard at first that many of my pictures look like impressionist works but I guess that is fitting. The day cleared up as it went on. We took a Seine Cruise and enjoyed the sights. It was sad to see the shell of Notre Dame. We went on to the Louvre and had lunch there before we took a 2 hour tour. Justine, our guide, made sure that we saw the three main ladies: Venus de Milo, Winged Victory, and Mona Lisa among many other fabulous works. We went back to the hotel - traffic was horrendous because of the strike - and had an hour before our trip to Montmartre. Traffic again was crazy but we made it to the Moulin Rouge and then took a tiny choo-choo up to our restaurant. Would have liked to made it up there during the day when more was going on but we'll save that for next time. Dinner was onion soup or warm goat cheese salad, quiche, and crème brulee or tart tartin. I'm always going for the crème brulee. We walked back to the bus and convinced Truss that we needed to see the Eiffel Tower lit up. She made it happen and we were still back to the hotel by 10. We leave late tomorrow - 9:30 as there again is uncertainty as to whether Versailles will be open. Fingers crossed.

Mornings at this time of year stay dark for quite awhile

It was also very rainy this morning

We happened upon a military parade
