Trip to France - Day 4 - Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2019 - Paris to Versailles to Dijon

Got to sleep in with a 9:30 departure. We left later than usual since the palace opening was delayed due to the strike but at least we lucked out and it did open. It was about a 45 minute ride and we had to wait when we got there for our guides to arrive and get tickets. The strike is making things a bit more difficult but at least we were able to take the tour. The palace was impressive and definitely worth the wait. Justine again filled us in with all the details on the palace and its inhabitants. Not surprising that it took 50 years to build. We had time to explore the gardens and to grab something to eat before meeting back at the bus at 1:45. Then it was on to the cute town of Dijon. Unfortunately it was dark by the time we arrived. The village was decorated beautifully for Christmas but the little market stalls all closed right after we got there. Truss took us on a nighttime walking tour and pointed out some places to eat. We went to a cute restaurant in the town center where we dined on champagne, carpaccio, crispy goat cheese, duck, ham and crème brulee. Would have loved more time here.  Another place to return in the future.
